Atom B, 2017-2018, Blades (North Durham Minor Hockey)

What an amazing experience for the North Durham Blades Atom B team yesterday to stand on the ice for the Ring of Honor at the CWHL Finals at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto.  The girls were on the ice for the team introductions and National Anthems of both China (Kunlun Red Star) and Canada (Markham Thunder).

Our Provincial Play Downs will be matched up against both Whitby and Oshawa with two games played against each team. The Blades are scheduled against the Whitby Wolves for 2 Games in the Play Downs.  Whitby and Oshawa have already played - they tied one game and Whitby won one game. The Blades were able to win both games against Whitby with a score of 4-1. We have to give total respect to Whitby's Goalie in Game 2 who must have saved 30 shots on net, she was on fire!! Bring it on Oshawa Generals - we'll see you on the ice!

The Blades played a very well matched series against the Orillia Hawks for Round 2 of Play Offs these past few weeks.  The first game was a tie (3-3), Game 2 at Orillia the Blades won (2-1) which meant that if we tied or won Game 3 we won the series, but if Orillia won Game 3 we went into a 10 minute, stop time, sudden death overtime - first goal wins the series. The girls went in confident and played well but Orillia played their hearts out and won the game 3-1. Just 2 minutes into the sudden death overtime the Blades won to take the series and move on to Round 3 against the Barrie ...

The Blades Atom B Team ended their regular season as Champions with two ties, 20 wins and 0 losses. This team has worked so hard this year to earn their place at the top!  We also won GOLD at both the Clarington Applefest Tournament and the Whitby Tournament of Heroes this season. Way to go Girls!

The Atom Blades team had a great victory today over the Orillia Hawks, maintaining our position of being undefeated in our regular season. The girls first goal was a beautiful pass from defense, to a wing with our goal scored by the center.  Our second goal was another team effort assisted by defense to wing to center! Our Goalies were also on fire today keeping the well matched Hawks at bay. Excellent team play today girls - nice win!
