The girls played their first tournament of the season last weekend on October 24-25th. They had only played one regular season game week before and 3 exhibition games leading up to their first real test of multiple games close together over a short weekend.
They had a tough first game against a much higher skill level team from Ottawa Valley (who ended up winning the tournament, beating every team by a large margin). They bounced back in the second game, against the tournament host's West Northumberland Wild, with a last second game tying goal by Tess for a 2-2!
They started out their Saturday games by getting a 0-0 result against the Belleville Bearcats (who had just beaten the Blades in their regular season opener 3-1). Kayla in net with her first shutout of the season! Their final game was against the Flamborough Falcons who came away with a 5-2 win over the Blades.
Overall it was an amazing tournament for this group of young girls and the coaching staff couldn't be happier. Congratulations on a strong 4th place finish for this developing team!
