Member Update - Provincial Lockdown
ND Members, as you have heard in the news yesterday, the province of
Ontario will enter a lockdown on December 26th for 28 days. During this time recreational facilities such
as arenas will be closed, and no hockey can be practiced.
At this time, NDMHA has NOT cancelled the season,
we will pause programming through the lockdown.
Our facilities intend to keep the ice in, but we will continue to work
with them to ensure that we can return once the lock down is over.
As this is a constantly changing situation, we will monitor the COVID-19 climate and work with our facilities and governing bodies to make the best decisions for our association given all the different scenarios that may unfold.
We are again asking for your support and patience as we hope that you and your players will look forward to emerging from lock down and getting back to hockey.
Will I get a refund because the season has been paused?
NDMHA has used a significant portion of registration fees collected to date to pay for jerseys and socks, player insurance, bench staff insurance, team registration and ice costs. It is important to remember that some of these costs are fixed and occur before players even step on the ice. If the season is shortened because of COVID-19 or eventually cancelled, NDMHA will make sure the fees are reduced and/or refunded accordingly.
The NDMHA Board of Directors have put in a tremendous amount of effort to provide hockey this season under extremely challenging times. We understand it has not been the season that anyone wanted, but we have done our best to provide programing through all the changes. We would like to thank you, the members for your continued support and a huge thanks to all of those volunteering this season to make it possible for the kids to play.
As more information becomes available and we continue to monitor updates from the Provincial government and work with our local town councils and facilities, we will continue to keep you updated regarding the remainder of the season.
We hope that you have a Safe and Happy Holiday and enjoy this short break!
