U18 AA - Jeff Durward
Jeff’s goal is to help young men grow into strong, responsible adults through the game of hockey. He believes the sport is a powerful platform for teaching life lessons that extend far beyond the ice. Jeff’s core principles will be centered around accountability, communication, commitment, and effort. He challenges the players to reach their full potential both as athletes and as individuals.
Hockey has shaped many of Jeff's most meaningful memories, he’s passionate about creating that same opportunity for the players he coaches — pushing them to grow, compete, and build experiences they’ll look back on with pride.
U18 A - Darren Burch
Darren's coaching philosophy for U18 A hockey centers on player development, accountability, and enjoyment of the game within a structured and competitive team environment. At this level, the goal is to continue building strong fundamentals, hockey IQ, and confidence while preparing players for higher levels of play or lifelong involvement in the game.
He believes in a positive, inclusive culture where effort, attitude, and coachability are non-negotiable.
Above all, Darren aims to help players grow as competitors, teammates, and individuals, ensuring they leave the season more confident, disciplined, and passionate about hockey than when they started.
U18 BB - Jim Cherry
Jim has been involved in Port Perry and North Durham minor hockey for over 15 years. Throughout these years he has served in multiple roles over a variety of teams and levels including trainer, assistant coach and most recently head coach of the 2024-25 U16BB team. As a coach a few of his core principals are fair and equitable play while the players continue to develop and improve their skills through teamwork and respect for one another, opponents, officials and coaches. Jim believes that every player's role is equally important to our team’s success. The goal for his coaching staff next year will be to create a fun, rewarding and memorable season for every player.
