2017-NorthDurham-arrow-white_(1).jpgWarriors Tryout Process & Policy

Tryouts for the 2018-2019 season will begin on April 23rd for AA, A and AE for Novice through Minor Midget Representative teams.  Midget Representative and all MD and Select tryouts will be held in August/September/October as required.  The tryout schedule is listed under “Tryout Schedule.”  The tryout schedule and teams listed for tryouts is subject to change based on registration numbers and players abilities.

All players trying out for a NDMHA representative team, regardless of level, must be registered online with Hockey Canada and paid in full by April 20, 2018.  This year everything will be done through the Hockey Canada Registration.  All Rep fees ($650.00) will be paid by credit card during registration as well as the $90 tryout passport which will be added to your cart during registration.  You will have the option at check out to pay in full ($740) or to make split payments ($300 at registration and $440 due June 1.) No Cash or Cheques will be accepted at tryouts.

As per policy, if you are going to miss your NDMHA tryout for any reason you MUST have approval from the Head Coach for exemption. Please  NOTE an exemption will NOT be approved by NDMHA to attend tryouts for another association.

For all levels, players are required to tryout for one level higher than they played the previous year. (e.g. if you played A, you must tryout for AA, if you played AE, you must tryout for A) Players who played on an A team the previous season must tryout for the AA team in their division and be released from the AA team to be eligible to play on the A team. Players who played on an AE team the previous season must tryout for the A team in their division and be released from the A team to be eligible to play on the AE team.  If the Head Coach has a child playing in the Division and Category in which he/she will be coaching, the child must tryout to be eligible to play on the team.

  • Tyke players entering their Novice year, must try out for Novice AA and be released to tryout for the A team and then release from the A team to be eligible to play for the AE teams
  • Players who were registered with House League during the previous season are able to register to tryout at any level. However, they must register and purchase their tryout passport by the first night of the “AA” tryouts.
  • For the AA tryouts from Minor Atom to Minor Midget, the 1st tryout would exclude the AA players from the previous season and the AAA players from the previous season who did not make the AAA team.  All players from the A team and other players wishing to tryout for the AA team would attend the 1st tryout.  After the 1st tryout the Head Coach would determine the players to invite to proceed to the 2nd tryout, but must invite a minimum of 10 players, excluding goalies.  The AA players from the previous season will start at the 2nd tryout, along with the AAA cuts and the selected invitees from the 1st tryout.  The Head Coach can release players after the 2nd tryout and after every subsequent tryout.
  • If it is confirmed we will conduct A tryouts: For the A tryouts from Minor Atom to Midget, the 1st tryout would exclude the A players from the previous season and the AA players from the previous season who did not make the AA team.  All players from the AE team and other players wishing to tryout for the A team would attend the 1st tryout.  After the 1st tryout the Head Coach would determine the players to invite to proceed to the 2nd tryout, but must invite a minimum of 10 players, excluding goalies.  The A players from the previous season will start at the 2nd tryout, along with the AA cuts and the selected invitees from the 1st tryout.  The Head Coach can release players after the 2nd tryout and after every subsequent tryout.
  •  For a player to be eligible to request a NRP Passport to attend BB or below they must attend all our tryouts starting at AA.  They would not be eligible to request this if starting tryouts at any level below AA.
  • For Minor Bantam through Midget registration numbers will be used to decided programming below AA.  We may move to have MD teams instead of AE at these age groups. Please check the website for more information.
